Yoiko

I’ve been beta testing Yoiko, an app for taking care of your pet made by my friend Cristopher Oyarzun, who is a software wizard. I like it a lot.

If you registered your dog at registratumascota.cl, you got a PDF back. Yoiko recognizes it. Fill in the vaccination dates and it reminds you when it’s time to take your dog to the vet, so you get there on time.

It’s full of nice details, and it keeps you coming back the way Apple’s Activity rings and workouts do. Except here the goal is getting outside to walk your dogs.

I tried the Apple Watch app too. My watch has cellular, but I don’t have a data plan, so on our walks it had no internet at all. The app worked anyway, and once I got the dogs back home and the watch back on Wi-Fi, the walk synced. It also gets registered in the Workouts app, as if you had started a walk from Workouts itself. So every walk with Pippa and Roscón, my two dogs, counts as a workout.

The content keeps getting better too, like the lessons for training your dog, so be sure to check that part out as well.

100% recommended. Five stars. Grab it on the App Store or Google Play and give it a try.
